We strive to source eco-friendly supplies, and we have eliminated all single-use plastic from production.
Hi there, we’re Melissa & Josh! We started Santa Cruz Candle Company in 2017. After almost a decade of tourism-related retail experience, Melissa noticed a lack of high-quality, eco-friendly candles that were suitable as affordable souvenirs for Santa Cruz locals and tourists alike. Both grew up in environments that fostered crafting, and Melissa made many candles during her childhood. Later on, we met in a biology class at Cabrillo College and both graduated with biology degrees from UC Santa Cruz. We combine our shared love for this area and history of crafting with scientific training to make safe, eco-friendly, and effective products.
We were born and raised on opposite sides of Santa Cruz County; combined, we have over six decades of ties and memories to this beautiful place we call home. This is our way of representing and honoring the spots we love, and we hope you find the same comfort and joy in each scent.

Our fragrances are phthalate-free, paraben-free, pet-friendly, and comply with standards set by the International Fragrance Association. We strive to source eco-friendly supplies, and we have eliminated all single-use plastic from production.
